Committed to humanitarian work since the 1970s, Véronique Mondon worked and lived for several years in Africa (Togo, Chad, Cameroon).

In 1982, she discovered Asia during her first six-month trip to China. Fascinated by Chinese culture, she studied Chinese language and calligraphy in Paris and then in Beijing. Until 1995, she organised cultural tourist trips to China and Vietnam.

In 1996, she resumed her humanitarian work in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

She took a particular interest in North Korea, where she travelled regularly between 1996 and 2020 with various French humanitarian organisations. In total, she spent more than seven years in the country.
