What Remains of International Law to Contain the Chaos of the World?

La Maison Française of NYU continues its partnership with Region Normandy and Normandy for Peace for a second year in which a distinguished panel of scholars, academics, journalists, ambassadors, and diplomats join to discuss the world's most intractable problems. Following up on prior editions wrestling with questions concerning the Concept of the Global South and Peace & War Between Nations, this year's panel will discuss the question of how international law, or what's left of it, can intervene to combat the runaway issues of war, poverty, wealth inequality, and more.

Speakers:

  • Niagalé Bagayoko, President of the African Security Sector Network
  • His Excellency Jérôme Bonnafont, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations
  • Professor Ana Palacio, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Professor at Georgetown University
  • François-Xavier Priollaud, Vice President of the Normandy Region, responsible for European and international affairs

Moderator: Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Professor at Columbia University, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations
