Lombois Competition for Pleading in International Criminal Law
Université de Caen Normandie, Campus 1
Campus for Peace
This international criminal law competition allows Master I and Master II students, as well as trainee solicitors, to compete on an imaginary international criminal law case, which is submitted to each team fifteen days before the preliminary rounds.

The objective is to argue orally.
Eloquence and the ability to anticipate the opposing party's arguments are particularly important (qualities noted in Claude Lombois).

During each round, two teams compete against each other. A draw determines which team will represent the "public side" and which will represent the "private side". Each team has thirty minutes to present their case, followed by twenty minutes for the jury to ask questions. The first day of the competition is devoted to the preliminary rounds, the second to the semi-finals, and the last to the final.

The same case is argued over the three days. However, roles may alternate, and participants must take into account what has been said on previous days.
