The Malagasy anti-colonialist movement between the wars: a missed opportunity?
Université de Caen Normandie – Campus 1
Campus for Peace
How did anti-colonial movements develop in Madagascar between the two world wars? What hopes, obstacles and memories did this period leave behind?
As part of the Normandy Chair for Peace's ‘Memory and Future of Peace’ programme, this conference offers an opportunity to step back and reflect on the Madagascan anti-colonialist movement between the two world wars, its historical and political implications, and how this history continues to resonate today.
The meeting will be enriched by the presence of Solofo Randrianja, a professor from Madagascar, who will contribute to the discussions and perspectives on this history.
