This course of actions places youth at the heart of Normandy for Peace, throughout the year, via a number of initiatives for young people, secondary school pupils and students.

The Holocaust Memorial

Educational projects focused on victims’ memories of the Holocaust are developed all year long by the Region’s apprentices and college students. The annual initiative is made up of three key events: a day at the Caen Memorial with a guest speaker who escaped from Auschwitz-Birkenau, a
study trip to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and a public presentation of educational materials at the Caen Memorial.

Every year, around 150 young people from Normandy benefit from this educational initiative, developed by the Holocaust Memorial, working closely with the local Board of Education..

University for Peace

The University of Peace, organized by the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace, brings together each year in Caen around fifty young European and international students for multidisciplinary exchanges on a theme related to peace.
The 23rd edition will take place in 2025 around the theme: “Sustainable Peace Tested by the Economy.”

Secondary school pupil's Argument for Human Rights

Linked to the International moot competition for lawyers, organised by the Caen Memorial, the moot competition for secondary school pupils is open to all secondary school in France and French secondary schools around the world. After the regional heats, the best candidates compete in the national final at the Caen Memorial. Five prizes are given: the Memorial prize, the Civic Engagement prize, the Amnesty International prize, the Reporters Sans Frontières prize and the Student Panel prize.
