Clément Deshayes

Clément Deshayes is an anthropologist and researcher at the French National Research Institute for Development (IRD) and the PRODIG laboratory (Paris 1/IRD/CNRS).

His research focuses on social movements in Sudan and on transformations within the senior civil service against a backdrop of rapid change (war, revolution, peace agreements, coups d’état) in Sudan and Chad. 

On the war in Sudan, he has notably published “From Revolution to War in Sudan: Political Fragmentation, Competition for State Control and the Widespread Nature of the Conflict”, *Politique africaine*, vol. 173, no. 1, 2024, pp. 69–92.
