Hamad GAMAL was born in El-Fasher, in the Darfur region, a city recently marked by painful events. In 2010, he moved to Khartoum, the capital, to study statistics at the Sudan University of Science and Technology.
During his university studies, he was elected president of the Darfur Students' Federation at the university, and he was also a member of the Darfur Students' Committee in Higher Education, where he was actively involved in defending the rights of Darfurian students.
Due to direct threats to his life, he was forced to leave Sudan in 2016. I arrived in France in 2017, after a journey through the desert and across the Mediterranean via Libya.
Upon his arrival in France, he resumed his studies in sociology at the University of Lyon 2, before pursuing a master's degree at Sciences Po Paris and EHESS.
In 2019, in the context of the Sudanese revolution, he founded SUDFA Media, a Franco-Sudanese media outlet committed to analysing and disseminating information on the political, social and cultural realities of Sudan. He has published several articles there and, with Sarah Bachellerie, co-directed the documentary film Jusqu'au bout (To the End), which traces the history and struggles of the Sudanese student movement.
