Ilia Lysenko is an experienced mediator, negotiator, conflict resolution expert, and educator with over a decade of practice across diverse settings. He has conducted more than 150 mediations and supervised over 2,000 cases spanning family, workplace, business, community, and startup conflicts. His work covers both court-referred and private mediation, supporting individuals, teams, and organisations in reaching sustainable agreements.
Ilia currently serves as Project Manager at the Learning Planet Institute in Paris, a UNESCO Category II Centre and United Nations University Hub. He leads international initiatives in mediation, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding, focusing on peace education, global cooperation, and innovative learning solutions. He collaborates with partners including UNESCO, the United Nations University, Cambridge University, and HEC Paris to design programmes that bridge research, practice, and education, strengthening global capacities for dialogue and conflict transformation.
Previously, Ilia was Head of the Mediation Department at a government centre in St Petersburg (2016–2019), Russia’s first full-time public mediation programme. He managed mediators, handled complex cases, and worked with courts and public institutions to institutionalise mediation nationwide. He later served as Deputy Director of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, leading training, facilitation, and consulting projects, including corporate initiatives integrating mediation into workplace conflict management.
A dedicated educator, Ilia has taught mediation, negotiation, and communication at institutions such as IESEG School of Management and EDHEC Business School. He has delivered over 80 training programmes internationally and trained judges, lawyers, and professionals.
Ilia holds BA and MA degrees with distinction in Conflict Science from St Petersburg State University and an MSc in Learning Science from Université Paris Cité. Fluent in English and Russian, with proficiency in French and Spanish, he brings a global, practice-oriented approach to conflict resolution.
